I'm a poet and an accidental novelist. 'Accidental' because I never set out to write one, and poetry has always been my principal passion. I teach creative writing part-time at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England and live in an old converted farm building at the edge of an apple orchard. I miss the sea - I was born in Wales, and lived there for ninteeen years, within the look and sound and smell of salt and wind and flat sand. I seem to have spent too much time teaching writing and designing writing courses than actually writing over the past 18 months, but I'm also in a kind of limboland being between books and not exactly sure of how my poems are working anymore. I know that'll change. And 100 words is giving me a place to be - like a small patch in the corner of a huge garden that I can just about handle.
