On a beautiful spring day, unseasonably warm, it is an unwritten tradition to go get ice cream. Kids in shorts are outside playing at the park. Plainwell Ice Cream is clearly flourishing, another story of small town American enterprise making good: thereís a whole new freezer room on the west side of the building. I enter just after someone else leaves, Iím the only customer. The young ones behind the counter are hopping to Ėone takes the order, someone else rings me up, a third brings the bag from the back. Iím in and out in less than 60 seconds.
