I enjoyed the diversity of life in Chicago. There were people from all over the US and from other countries living there, you could hear any language on the subway, or in a museum. You could see art-house movies in Chicago, and bands of all kinds came to play in various venues. I loved the quiet tree-lined streets in the near north neighborhoods, stone buildings with one apartment per floor, and dreamed of living in a place like that someday. The lakeshore parks were beautiful, although there didnít seem to be many parks as you moved west across the city.
