Elaine and Edward had tried so hard to have children, but it was not to be. Neither was particularly religious, and neither was particularly accepting of their fate. They were overjoyed when they adopted a little girl, and always told her how treasured she was.Secretly, Elaine hoped that she might become pregnant after the adoption, but that didnít happen, either.
